Troubleshooting

Registration & FAQs

It is recommended that you register for the LifeSmarts online competition as a Varsity or JV coach, which will automatically register you for TeamSmarts and allow you to use the same log-in details. If you choose to use TeamSmarts independently, follow these four registration steps:

TeamSmarts Registration and Log In
  1. Go to New Coach Registration
  2. Enter your details and select Submit, and write down the Coach Code you are given.
  3. To log in, return to the Log In page
  4. Enter your first and last name, and Coach Code.

Creating and Registering a Team

Once you have logged in to TeamSmarts, you must create your team(s). You may have as many teams as you like, but each student is only allowed to be on one team. You only need to create each team once. However, you must register each team every month for the new quiz. This allows the TeamSmarts software to access the correct quiz for your team(s). Creating and registering a team only takes a few steps:

  1. Once logged in, scroll to the bottom of the page and select Register Teams
  2. Enter a team name (you or your students can make this up) and the number of students on the team, select the Team Type, and finally, you will enter in the Competition Code (the Competition Codes for 2012 are available in the monthly LifeSmarts e-Bulletin and are not listed here). If you have more than one team to register, you can register them all at the same time on this page. Select Register
  3. The following message will appear: Your team has been registered. View competitions to get access codes. Click on the word “competitions” -- it is hyperlinked (or select Competitions & Access from the left-side of the page).
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find your Team Code and the Unique Access Code. Record both codes for each team you have registered.

Note: It is recommended that you register yourself and your team before your team has gathered to complete the quiz.

When teams are ready to compete, they will go to the Quiz page, enter in the Team Code and the Unique Access Code, and begin the quiz. Teams have one hour to compete. Teams may take breaks during the quiz, but the clock will continue to run for a full hour. Teams will be unable to resume the quiz after an hour has passed. More information can be found here.

The top ten scores will be listed on the High Scores page, and the first place team will receive prizes and a certificate from the National Consumers League.

Note: Is it recommended that teams do not use an Internet Explorer Web browser for competing in TeamSmarts.
